Vanishing — Look, But Do Not Touch

Look, But Do Not Touch

My friend is dying. My children no longer see me as who we brought forth together. The arrival of both makes clearer for me that I spend much time and effort trying to be, when I already am. Wiser for me to let go and look for what is already there.

I will not be known.
Neither will I be remembered.
I will be remembered briefly, but not known.
I will not be known, but remembered, then forgotten.

I work to create memories of me for no one.
Let go of the work.
Surrender, rest here.
And welcome the wind that will carry me away.
