We are a small group of people who come together to study ourselves and to forget ourselves in order to awaken to the Buddha's truth.(Dogen)
We are literally a backyard practice where we sit every week and study together. We are affiliated with The Zen Buddhist Order of Hsu Yun and study Soto Zen, Chan and Theravada Buddhism.
In many ways we are a melting pot of Buddhism much like the United States.
Resident Teacher, Liz Hulsizer.
Liz is a practitioner of Soto Zen, Chan Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism. She sees Ayya Khema as her main heart teacher.
Her main teaching is purification of action (karma) and deepening practice.
Upasika, Ansgar Holmberg
Upasika Yue, One Who Sits Nearby, is the sewing teacher for A Single Thread. Her main teaching is concentration and sewing.

The chuddar may be sewn in any solid color and often is made from silk.
Upasika Ansgar is available to help you with sewing a rakasu, rakasu case,oryoki linens, and chuddars.
